Stephen Niles & Sanit Khewhok

The Second Floor at Cedar Street Galleries will be hosting an art show featuring original paintings by the artists Stephen Niles and Sanit Khewhok.
Stephen Niles was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and has lived and worked in New York, California, and France. He is an art professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and previously worked as the assistant to Viola Frey in 1988 and as the principal assistant to Anselm Kiefer in 1999 in Barjac, France. Stephen received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1986 and his Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the Pratt Institute in 1994. His exhibitions include Boom Gallery, Honolulu; The Contemporary Museum, Honolulu; The Honolulu Academy of Arts; The Academy Art Center at Linekona, Honolulu; Parsons School of Design, New York City; and Printed Matter, New York City. He has been featured numerous times in Artists of Hawaii at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.
Sanit Khewhok is the eleventh recipient of the prestigious Catharine E. B. Cox Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts. Born in Trang, Thailand, Khewhok received his undergraduate degree in Fine Arts: Painting, Sculpture, and Printmaking from Silpakorn University in Bangkok. He was then awarded a Master of Fine Afts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome with a specialization in painting and restoration techniques. For 30 years, he has worked as a curator, collections manager, and a conservator at museums in Thailand and Honolulu.
